Baby Butt!

Here's Eva's butt.  I thought we had to show at least one baby butt picture.  I know, I'm making an amazing face.

Eva is 3 months old!  It's gone by so fast.  It looks like she's about 24 inches long.  She has discovered shoving things in her mouth: mostly her hands and a crinkle/fabric toy my friend made her (Thanks Amber!).  It's so neat to see her mind grow!  A few weeks ago she wasn't interested in toys (she didn't even appear to notice that there was something in front of her face).  Now she will grab toys and try to jam them into her mouth.  On her little vibrator chair there's a bar of hang down toys for her to play with.  One of them is a toad with a handle bar that when pulled, plays a cute song.  She's figured out how to pull that handle!  It's so awesome to hear that song start when I'm in the other room.

Don't you realize? The next time you see sky, it'll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it'll be in some other school. Our parents, they want the best of stuff for us. But right now, they got to do what's right for them. Because it's their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it's our time. It's our time down here. That's all over the second we ride up Troy's bucket

Our trip to Astoria was a fun one for us. Eva must not have been feeling well, or she was extremely angry that we didn't stay home and let her breastfeed to her hearts content (which would be for 18 hours straight) because she was very fussy most of the trip. It was a new kind of fussy as well. She would go from chill to a "I hate you all" kind of scream like it was an Olympic event and she was looking to set a world record. It made for an interesting day.
We ate breakfast at Camp 18, an old logging camp turned into a restaurant. It was good food. We had an amazing cinnamon roll that was as big as a dinner plate.

Eva was in good spirits until we reached the beach. Then the scream-a-thon began and we didn't have anyone manning the phone lines to accept donations. Where were you Neil Patrick Harris?

This shipwreck is the Peter Iredale. It was four masted sail ship that ran aground on the Oregon coast during a storm in 1906. The ship was built partially from steel and partially from wood. The steel msections of the bow and the mast braces are still there sticking out of the sand.

Then we went to Astoria and walked along the docks and watched the ships and the sea lions.

And no trip to Astoria would be complete with going to see some landmarks from "The Goonies"

The jail house where the Fratelli's staged their jailbreak

Another Michael Photoshoot

So I did another photoshoot with Michael, but this time I dressed him in clothes.  Andrew thinks he's too old to be doing naked shots, but I just think the naked ones are too cute to give up.

Eva's Sounds

Hi,
I just wanted you all to know (in case you haven't figured it out) that we're obsessed with our baby and since this is the Allison-Johnson-Moffat on-line journal, I figured that it would be a great place to share our obsession.
Thanks,
Katie

To watch a video of her "firsts," click here.  Warning: the video shows some birth giving but no body parts other than naked Eva are shown.  If the idea of giving birth makes you sick, don't watch.  I wanted to document her sounds and now that we have a couple of them, I made a video.  Enjoy!

The Grotto, a place of solitude, peace and prayer, and unruly mormons with their crying babies.

We went to the Grotto, a 62 acre Catholic garden and sanctuary. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place and we thought, "Hey, lets take a family picture". But we didn't ask Eva if it would be ok with her to condescend to get out of the stroller. The contemplative, spiritual atmosphere was soon lambasted. But we still got a very cute family picture:

The Whole Bowl

Dear Christine and Leesa,
This post is for you gluten free people.  While Christine was here we visited the food cart in downtown Portland called "The Whole Bowl."  I thought it was pretty fantastic.

This is not a picture of us enjoying waiting in (a very long) line.  What's in the whole bowl experience?  See picture below:

Their sign looks much cuter in real life.  I don't know what it is about that photo that makes it look so crappy.  Anyway, Bennett and I thought about what we actually have in the fridge and we had almost all these ingredients (whoooo!).  We found a recipe here for the secret "Tali" sauce and made it for dinner.  It turned out pretty close to the real thing.  Really good!  It would also be great served cold so Bennett can take it for lunch.

I'm posting this on the blog so Christine and Leesa have one more (really tasty) thing they can eat in this dreary, wheat filled world.
Love,
You Caring Sister

Grandpa had oral surgery and now looks like a chipmunk. The Dr. put some cadaver bone tissue in my jaw to build up the bone in preparation for an implant. Sorry to all family members who inherited the Allison gene for crappy teeth.

Tired of Eva pictures yet? Too bad!

This is Eva's 2 month shot. It's a little late because she turns 3 months old next week but better late than never, right? She looks like she's about 23.5 inches long.

This picture (above) is what we've been trying to capture on camera but most of the time we get the picture below because once she sees the camera she immediately stops whatever cute thing she's doing and stares at the camera.

Bennett got a few cute ones while driving in the car.

 The camera stare!

Just a cute close up of her.

Eva Talking

Okay, so this video is 7 minutes long and boring but it captures Eva talking with Bennett.  Watch as little or as much as you like: http://youtu.be/2K6AFQ5Q0k4

Labor Day Weekend

Our Labor Day weekend was a fun one that included dahlias, salmon, a waterfall and very little sleep.

These were all taken at the annual Dahlia festival. It is at the largest dahlia farm in the United States and it was very pretty. I took Katie there for our anniversary. 8 years! Dahlias are her favorite flowers. Good thing we live so close to this farm so I didn't have to spring for airline tickets.

Then on Tuesday we went up the gorge and visited the Bonneville @#!*% to see the salmon run and to go on a hike to Fairy Falls.

At the Bonneville Dam they have a little movie theater room where they show an educational film about the history and construction of the dam. Nobody goes to see the movie, which worked out perfect for us. Katie had an air conditioned, multi seat theater to breast feed in.

Eva slept for most of the hike, but once we reached the falls and took her out of the carrier she was not a happy baby. Fairy Falls will forever be renamed "Crying Baby Falls". It was a beautiful, very steep, 1.2 mile  hike to the falls and afterwards we stopped at a little place in Troutdale to get dinner. You probably can't tell from the pics but Eva is wearing three different outfits throughout the day because her diapers "over runneth" with poo poo.
