Shoes in the River

Listen, when Bennett says, "Stop doing that or I'll throw you in the river," you had better heed his warning. So, yesterday we were enjoying a peaceful sitting next to some river that flows through Murray Park (possible the Murray river?). I started pushing Bennett over for being a soft speaker (he was talking too softly and I had to ask him over and over what he was saying). Then came his warning. I didn't believe him but the next second he's dragging me down to the river edge and pulls me right into the raging river. It wasn't very deep right there so only my shoes, socks and dignity were wet. After getting out what's the first thing I do? Pick up his shoe and throw it in. If you've seen this river you know it's a white rapid kind of a river (very swift current) and off his shoe goes. I wasn't expecting it to go that fast but we were both running quickly to catch up to the shoe. Bennett tried the old "grab the shoe from the bridge with a stick" but that didn't work and the shoe swiftly sailed on. We were both laughing and running down this river until finally some people climbed down and grabbed the shoe after Bennett pushed the shoe in their direction. Whew! Lesson learned: Never throw your wife in the river.

grumpy old nurses

So I went to occupational medicine because my boss requested that I go fill out an "incident" report because my wrists hurt. I went there and they were sooooo mean! So I left without filling out the report and went back the next day and then they were 500x worse than before. The old grumpy nurse was actually yelling at me! I wasn't sure what to do so I started crying (of course). I felt really dumb and didn't get what I wanted because I didn't want to ask again. So today my boss went up to physical therapy for me and got me some wrist splints in like 5 min. I wish I had someone to complain to about the mean nurse, but she's been here so long they proabably figure that she'll die before she changes. So instead I would like all of you to write her hate mail...OK not really.

Sunday school lessons

So I'm supposed to teach the Young Women this Sunday and the lesson asks for an "unusual tool". So I thought about it and realized I could bring in an endometrial pipelle biopsy tool. But then I thought; oh wait then I'll have to explain to the Young Women what it's used for and they probably wouldn't like it. So then I thought I would bring in some pap smear "tools", but for the same reason as above I decided against it. I continued to try to think of something, but they all had some "gross" medical purpose; so now I have no ideas at all. Maybe I'll just bring in a spoon. That sounds like a fantastic solution. No one would know what a spoon is used for....

Happy, Happy Birthday Christine Dear!

Christine! Happy Birthday! Now that you're 23 you can do some amazing things like... vote and be drafted. Ah, the privlidges of age. I hope you two do something fun and you get to sleep in on your birthday.

Here's a picture of a little somethin' somethin' I picked out for you:

It's a 2009 VXX Power Drill fully loaded with CD player and anti-lock drilling capabilities! The arms and figures in the back are included! You wouldn't believe the deal I got on this baby.
Anyway, I'm very happy that you're my sister and that you're having a birthday. I hope it's a fantastic one! I love you!

One of these things is not like the other

Me and my grandma went 4-wheelin last spring.

Spencer Update

Spencer is doing really well! After his fall my family, his ward and probably others were all fasting for him. We have been so blessed. Spencer came home last Wednesday (May 7th) and Traci has already had to get after him for jumping on the couch! Yeah! I heard he's a little wobbly on his feet but other than that we have a walking miracle. Thanks for everyone's prayers and fasting!
This picture was taken a couple weeks ago of Emalee (Spencer's Aunt) and Spencer. We all went for a walk but Spencer didn't have a jacket so we rolled up a sweater on him but it still looked like a dress on him.

Pinkie and the Pink Pink of Pink

Imagine this: me driving down the road and doing a complete rubber-neck at a sight so strange, so weird, so... I'll just have to tell you. So I'm driving home and as I go through an intersection I see this hot pink, brand new scooter. Pretty funny huh? Actually what I thought was funny was who was driving this scooter. Picture a scrawny, lanky, guy in his 40's, balding head of gray hair, wearing clothes that he's worn for the past 10 years day in day out. Actually picture someone like my dad driving down the street in a hot pink scooter. Can you picture the way he would do it? Completely serious, not thinking about riding such a scooter, legs close together as he sits and not thinking anyone will notice a 40 year old guy on a hot pink scooter. I was laughing. I thought it was pretty funny. This guy and the pink downtown man need to get together. It would be a friendship that would last through the millennium. The pink man walks, rides, jogs all day around the trolley square area wearing hot pink tights, shorts, shirt, hat and shoes. Even his bike is hot pink! I'm wondering what this pink man does for a job to afford buying only hot pink clothes. People who wander around downtown all day don't have much of a choice in clothing.

Anniversary

I woke up this morning and there were beautiful flowers at my place on the table because it's our 3-year anniversary today! I was so excited this year because I thought well ahead of time and knew our anniversary was coming up on May 7th. However, I failed to recognize that TODAY is May 7th! So yet again, I have overlooked our anniversary. Good thing I have a sweet husband! All of you should be grateful that I even know what day of the week it is, and I even occasionally remember people's birthdays.

I Dream of Bowling

Yes! I'm finally out of debt as of yesterday! Stupid credit cards! Stupid credit card companies who give me stupid credit. I never want to go into debt again. Why is it that you have to go into debt to prove that you can get out of debt? Don't people who stay out of debt prove more about their spending abilities than those who go into debt? But you have to have a credit score to buy anything major so you have to have debt. Anyway, now that I'm out of debt I plan to quit my current job and get my dream job working at the bowling alley. I'll get to spray the shoes and wax the lanes and watch old people bowl at 11 in the morning all while watching day time TV on my little pocket TV. I'll have to change my name to Murray (that's more of a bowling alley employee name). People will say, "Hey Murray," and, "Yo Murray," as they walk by. I can't think of anything more fulfilling (besides working at a lumber yard or textile store).

I Love My Family!

I'm so blessed to be born into such a wonderful establishment called the Allison Family. I love them! There's no where else in the world that I would rather be than with my family. I'm feeling so thankful to Heavenly Father for the sealing ordinance because I get to be with these people for eternity.

Everyone's heard the saying that when it rains it pours but I'll bet you've never heard the saying that when it rains the dam breaks (that's because I just made that up). My family's been entrenched in that flood the past few months now. Two days ago Spencer (my cute little nephew) was playing upstairs and fell out the window onto the concrete two stories below. He was flown to the Primary Children's Hospital and is now in the ICU. He's alive and I heard today that he's responding and talking. He has a fractured skull but (thank you, thank you, thank you!) nothing else appears to be wrong or broken. Julie has Trigeminal Neuralgia which causes her immense facial pain even with the slightest breeze on her and just had brain surgery to hopefully cure it but it will take some time (after all, she just had brain surgery and how many people can say that?). Christine was diagnosed with Celiac's Disease which is a gluten intolerance and can't have anything with wheat in it. She's had to completely re-learn how to eat and cook. Have you ever been in the Health Food stores? It's not cheap! Rika found out last week that she broke her foot a year ago and has been walking around all this time. Is that all? Oh, Bennett just found out he's married to me and we all know what that means since Jake classified me as a "nag".

Even though we're treading through the flood I feel at peace. We were all fasting yesterday for Spencer and I went to the temple today and really felt how blessed we are to have each other. I feel that everything will come out okay in the end. After all, we have the greatest, most powerful "Person" in the entire universe helping us through this.
These are some pictures after Taylor's blessing last Sunday.

It looks like Elann is falling over in his sleep.
