3 short days in the Emerald City!

So, we have been married for almost 9 years and we have lived in Portland for almost 3 years and we have not visited Seattle yet and so we decided to take a trip up for our anniversary and perform the Portlandian right of passage of turning our noses up at Seattle and finding fault with that preposterous over achiever of a city up north. (Actually we loved Seattle and are planning on moving there)

We went to the EMP museum, which is dedicated to music and popular culture.

Here we are practicing our "scary movie" scream after visiting the wing featuring horror movie stuff.

We got really lucky in that every restaurant we chose to eat at was amazing food. There is nothing worse than crappy food at a restaurant. Here we are eating at seafood restaurant in Pike place market along the waterfront.

This seagull landed on the windowsill and kept tapping his beak on the window then looking up at the open window above expecting us to throw some food out. You could tell he had done this before. He was very persistent, he sat out there tapping and waiting for 35 minutes. Yes, we did feed him.

The views from the restaurant.

Walking along the waterfront Eva started dancing to the beat of this street drum guy.

Eva made good friends with some inebriated transients. They danced for her because it made her laugh.

The world famous wall of A.B.C. gum

We drove our car onto the ferry and rode across to bainbridge island, spent some time there and then drove home along the Olympic peninsula and the Puget sound.  It was the long way home but it was a beautiful drive.

Spending the day chasing seagulls.

Now that Eva can walk we were really excited to take her to the coast and let her run around and play on the beach and possibly even the waves, despite the water's frigid temperature. Eva loved being at the beach as much as we loved taking her there and she was not at all fazed by the cold water, she didn't even react when the first wave hit her other than to giggle and keep walking to deeper water. (She would have walked until it was over her head if we had let her) The day started off misty and overcast but still warm, then turned sunny and beautiful, and ended with a great sunset. It was a day of playing in the surf and sand, taking naps on the beach, eating a lot of ice cream and learning how to deal with poop in the swimsuit.

If you thought that they stopped selling candy cigarrettes then you need to get out to the Oregon coast and enjoy some minty menthol, "Just like Dad."

Eva spent a lot of the day pointing at the seagulls, yelling at the seagulls and chasing after any seagulls that landed near her.

Who doesn't like holding a sleeping baby?

This doesn't happen very much any more so I had to get a picture and post it.  I LOVE holding a sleeping baby.

It's like the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, only with a ring of soap scum.

Are you worried that your kid's aren't eating enough paint? Scared that they will grow up to be accountants, H.R. representatives or any other responsible well paying position without any creativity or discolored skin? Then TUB-O-PAINT is the activity for you. Just pour a crap load of non toxic paint into the bathtub, disrobe your baby and let them spend hours happily confined within a porcelain canvas while you are free to watch reruns of "The O.C." and peruse your favorite social media site unencumbered by the little ones. TUB-O-PAINT gives you the life you never knew you wanted while putting your child on the path to misunderstood, under appreciated, alcoholic artist who still lives in your basement and is one failed masterpiece away from cutting their ear off.
