Thanksgiving Moffat Hoora

Gluten free thanksgiving at the Moffat household.

GF cheescake, a must have.  AND I figured out a GF crust that doesn't burn when it spends 50 min in the oven!

Grandma's funeral potatoes and some yummy yams Andrew made

Michael just wanted to eat the strawberry topping from the cheesecake...I took of his nice shirt before I gave him some.

Bennett or Eva?

Bennett's baby photo at around 6 months old.  Looks a lot like Eva!
Grandpa Judge William Allison's Funeral and Grave Services
Judge William Allison passed away Nov. 11, 2012 of natural causes. He was 84 years old.
We had many peaceful and spiritual experiences associated with his passing. Here are a few pictures from those events.
Grandpa served in WW2 in the Navy.

Attack of the Snowman

I can now add animator and romantic to my resume.
Let me explain.
Katie and Eva went to Utah this week and I could either spend my alone time sitting on the couch watching TV, or I could do something productive. I compromised and moved the TV into the kitchen where our chalkboard sits and started making this stop motion animation. If you have never made one of these before, this was my first time, you have no idea how time consuming the process can be. I watched a full season of Parks and Rec., listened to several Radiolab podcasts and a lot of music while making this video. What I am trying to say is, I don’t know how Walt Disney didn’t give up after the first fifteen minutes. But then again, that’s probably why Disney is poised to seize control of the world and institute its own draconian rule, and I am a bum with a kitchen covered in chalk dust. Anyways, at least I have this epically romantic short film to show for my week alone. I hope you brought a change of clothes, because your eyes are about to piss tears.

P.S. Watch the video in full screen HD, it is easier to see what is going on. Thanks

Christmas Tree Pass (there were no Christmas Trees)

We went to Christmas Tree Pass, NV this weekend.  Michael was really confused because there were NO Christmas Trees.  But there were a ton of petroglyphys.  If you can't tell almost all of the rocks are covered in petroglyphys. I've never seen so many.

There was also this spring, with all this vegetation (which was crazy because there was almost NO plant life beyond the spring)

My cute little baby buggy boo!

So obviously I don't have a baby, but I just wanted to fit in. I do however have some sweet pics of me and Mom taking it to the streets! Step up style!

Our first stop was the 9/11 site. This is the place right across the street where the workers slept and regrouped. It was a really spiritual experience for me. New Yorkers are amazing at giving of themselves when called upon.

The freedom tower.
I had the awesome opportunity of going to the memorial right before Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the area.

on the Staten Island Ferry... a great view of the Statue of Liberty and the downtown.

Bethesda Fountain in Central Park

Lalalala don't be shy, kiss de girl

Mom went on the subway! Saw some crazy people, grabbed some rats and ate some trash.

Her favorite part: The MET Museum of Art.

Here we are in Harlem eating at Sylvia's. It's one of the most popular restaurants in the city. Full of history. Mom ate some soul food: chicken and waffles.
I had the best time with Mom and I'm so glad she got to come see the city!

Our Little Convict

Every Monday and Tuesday night Katie teaches piano lessons and so Eva and I are left home alone to fend for ourselves for a few hours. Tonight we decided to do a photo shoot together. A few years ago Katie made me some fleece pajama pants. She had some material left over and a few days ago she made a pair of pants and a jacket for Eva. I tried to take some matching pictures of us, but I couldn't get far enough away from the camera and still trip the shutter, so I just took pictures of Eva. She looks just like she broke out of prison to hang out at a cool Miami nightclub.

She looks so Gangsta in the photo below. Laid back and chillin like a villain.

My little cutie!

I had a photoshoot with Michael today because I broke out the 3T clothes and thought he looked so cute in this outfit.

Just thought this pic was funny, he was giving me the roll of the eyes followed by the "duh" look.

Date Day

Andrew and I actually got a babysitter this weekend and went on a hike to Cave Spring.  There's supposed to be a spring in this cave, but mostly it is just mud and a lot of mosquito's.  But it was still a lot of fun.

Brazilian Chicken Stroganoff

Christine asked for a link to something we have for dinner on a regular basis: Brazilian Chicken Stroganoff.

Here's the link: http://www.maria-brazil.org/brazilian_strogonoff.htm

Bennett said that instead of using ketchup he used tomato paste and he didn't use dry white wine.  You can use chicken stock instead.

Also, matchstick potato chips are made by slicing up potatoes as small as you can get it and the frying them until they are crispy all over.  They make a great topping for the stroganoff.  I know you're tempted to skip this step but don't!  It's worth it.

Enjoy!

I want to be cool too

One day Christine listed all the things she had accomplished in one day along with taking care of Michael.  So I wanted to list all of the things I did on Saturday to see if I am as cool as Christine even though I didn't have a little kid to help me.
1.  Got up at 7:30 AM and did my morning stuff
2.  Cleaned the bathroom including removing all the hard water gunk build up
3.  Changed the sheets on our bed
4.  Folded and put away 2 baskets of clothes
5.  Cleaned up the closet area
6.  Cleaned the kitchen (it was more than usual messy because we had the missionaries as guests for dinner on Friday night)
7.  Cleaned the kitchen floor
8.  Vaccumed the bedroom, dining room, hall, living room and entry.
9.  Dusted every vertical surface in living room
10. Vaccumed all the furniture in living room
11. Cleaned the carpets in the living room, dining room, hall and our bedroom.
12. Mowed the front and back lawn and cleaned the sidewalks and driveway
13. Powerwashed all of the folding chairs
14. Made a cover for the folding chairs so they wouldn't get so dirty in the garage
15. Ate 3 meals and took a 1/2 hour nap
16. Read the newspaper
17. Read 2 chapters in a book called "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society."
18. Corrected tests for 230 students and corrected their homework
19. Posted all of the grades for 5 classes
20. Prepared all of my lessons for next week
21. Generated and printed spreadsheets of all the grades for 3 classes
22. Washed  and dried all of the dirty clothes
23. Ironed some of the clothes (not too many though as I'm not a fan of ironing)
24. Recleaned up the kitchen by putting away the clean dishes, reloading the dishwasher and washing the dishes that didn't fit.
25. Took a shower
26. Visited with Daniel, sent Happy Birthday wishes to Leesa and talked to her, and talked to Katie.
26. Made it to bed by 12:30 AM
27. I almost forgot, I picked up a weeks worth of poop in the backyard.

Who knew a chalkboard would be so fun?

Katie made herself one of those paint it on chalkboards. The thing is like four feet long and was hanging up in our kitchen when I got home from work. I spent the entire night drawing, erasing and drawing some more.

Here is a picture of Eva and me going Trick or Treating for her first Halloween. We went to 4 houses and then she was done with the whole thing. It seems she prefers breast milk to chocolate.
