New car!

So we got a new car! It's a Kia Sorento, it seats 7, and we love it! Michael loved the car so much we decided to let him drive it.

New Project

Notice the starburst mirror on the wall. They are popular right now. If they weren't, I probably wouldn't be interested in them. So... I made my own but a very "affordable" version. It probably cost me around $10 to make it (mirror from Goodwill, 4 magazines from Goodwill, glue sticks from Fred Meyers -yes, Fred Meyers is still Fred Meyers here).

The beginning... Do you think I should have kept the duck mirror the way it was? Too late.
The end... I know that seems like a quick journey to you (from beginning to end) but it took 3 nights of watching American Idol and hot gluing to finish this project. Summation: took too long but looks cool! I'll have to find a hammer and a good place to hang it in order to complete the next step. Has anyone seen two extra hammers hanging around their house since we moved up here? Can find either of them now...

Fight, Fight, Fight!

I got in a fight today with my new, extremely sharp, Victorinox knife over some raw squash. Let's just say it was sharp enough to cut right through my fingernail. I almost passed out after cutting myself, not from the pain but from seeing the cut. Luckily for me, Bennett helped me to the couch where everthing became fuzzy and nauseating and he finished making dinner. I think I'll name that knife "Sharp-y."

Fun with blankets

Ahhh!

So Andrew decided to give Michael a haircut, and this was the result. I cried for like 20 min when I saw it. Andrew told me he's never felt so much remorse for anything ever!

Fun with Sticky notes

Michael and I had some fun with Sticky Notes this morning.

What our life is like now...

So we have lived in Portland for 1 month. We like Portland a lot so far. We have library cards already. We have munched on fresh seafood. And we have have seen the sun on three non-consecutive occasions. Some observations:
-Portland drivers drive even slower than Utah drivers
-Portland has more topless bars per capita than any other U.S. city
-Everything is green and wet
-There is no snow and 40 is considered cold
-There is no rhyme or reason to the roads here. Its like they used a 3 year olds crayon sketch as a layout for the city
-Katie loves how green it is and I love the topless bars and all the new places to discover
We have been to the Zoo and the Planetarium and Multnomah Falls and several local restaurants. The city parks here are beautiful because they are literally a forest with trails. Anyone that wants to visit just let us know when.
Here are some pics from the Zoo.

You can see where we live on google earth with these coordinates 45 30'29.16" n 122 45'34.26" w

Portlandia!!!!

Greetings from the dry, dreary wasteland of Portland, Oregon. We have been here a week and things are going good. Here are a few pics of what its like where we live.

Downtown Portland with Mt. Hood in the distance

Downtown.
This is the trail we take to our apartment.

We live on the top floor. Notice the evil stairway that we had to push the paino up.

This guy came with the apartment.
